Carcasses are cut to your ceiling height, scribed to your walls and skirtings, and the doors are hung so they sit flush with the frontage. Everything is manufactured in our workshop on Avenue Fields in Stratford-upon-Avon and fitted by our own team of five, including an in-house electrician for lit interiors. ### Who it is for It suits homeowners who have run out of hanging space, who own a bedroom with eaves, a chimney breast or a sloping ceiling, or who want the bedroom to read as one considered piece rather than a freestanding wardrobe pushed against a wall. If plastering, electrics or flooring are being changed, the earlier we survey the better, we can design the wardrobe around the final wall line rather than work back from it. ### Why professional joinery matters Wardrobes are unforgiving work. They are tall, they are seen at close range every day, and they sit against walls that are rarely plumb. A joiner who measures, machines and fits the same job controls the tolerances end to end. Because every carcass and door is made for your room rather than ordered from a catalogue, the finished run reads as part of the house. We survey, design, manufacture and fit, nothing is outsourced. Design consultations and quotations are free. There is no fixed price list, every project is priced individually because every project is made to measure. A deposit of 30–50% is taken depending on the size of the work. ### Materials we use Carcasses are typically built from high-grade MDF or birch-faced ply depending on the finish and the loading, with solid timber used for face frames, mouldings and anywhere an edge takes daily wear. Painted wardrobes are hand-finished to a spray-quality standard so the surface stays flat and even under bedroom lighting, which is far less forgiving than it looks. Where a client wants grain, we work in oak, walnut and ash, either in solid sections or as veneered panels for large door faces where a solid board would move. Internals can be finished in a contrasting timber or a wipe-clean melamine, and hanging rails, soft-close hinges and drawer runners are specified to take a full load rather than a showroom load. ### Methods and set-out Every run starts with a measured survey: floor levels, wall plumb, ceiling fall, skirting depth, cornice profile and the position of every socket and radiator. Those numbers drive the drawing. We set out door widths so the divisions relate to the room, windows, bed centre line, chimney breast, rather than dividing the wall into arbitrary equal panels. Carcasses are made in the workshop and scribed on site. Scribing is the difference between a fitted wardrobe and a wardrobe placed against a wall: filler strips are cut to follow the actual wall line, so there is no shadow gap along the edge and nothing to fill with mastic. Doors are hung last and adjusted after the run has settled. ### Variations of the service Hinged-door wardrobes suit most bedrooms and give full access to the interior. Sliding doors suit rooms where the bed sits close to the run. Open dressing-room style wardrobes, with lit rails and no doors, work well in larger rooms and in loft conversions where headroom is limited on one side. We also build wardrobes that wrap a bed into a single composition, overhead bridging units, bedside towers and integrated headboards, and wardrobe runs that turn the corner into an en-suite or dressing area.
